Upon arrival, a responding officer observed a brown colored Ford F350 pickup truck parked in front of the store.  When the officer approached the vehicle, the truck fled the shopping center complex and headed towards the Kamehameha School Maui campus.

According to police reports, the officer pursued the vehicle to the campus’ athletic field, where two individuals exited on foot and fled through the school. A subsequent search of the campus and surrounding area was conducted.

Maui police say the individuals were wearing camouflage clothing, masks, and gloves.

A preliminary investigation reveals that the suspects had attempted break into the Bank of Hawaii ATM located within the Longs Drugs Store.  Authorities say that although no money was taken, extensive damage was reported at both the Longs Drugs Store and ATM within. Maui police say the pickup truck was an unreported stolen vehicle from the Haliimaile Pineapple Company.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crimestoppers (242-6966) or the Maui Police Department’s Criminal Investigation Division (244-6425).
