Maui Adult Day Care co-sponsor of fall training.

A training for caregivers focused on fall prevention and management is being offered on Saturday, May 7 from 9 am until 10:30 am at the South Maui Adult Day Care Care Center.  The Center is located at at Hale Maholu Ehiku (just past Hope Chapel) at 56 Ehiku Street in Kihei.

The fall management training is being offered in conjunction with Maui Adult Day Care and the Maui County Office on Aging.  The training is free to the public with no requirement for preregistration.  Certificates will be issued to partipants and a light breakfast will be provided.

Ted Anderson, Doctor of Physical Therapy and Member of the Hawaii Chapter of Physical Therapists will be the featured presentor.  Dr. Anderson will speak on the following topics:

  • Fall Statistics/Fall risks and solutions
  • Why falls increase with age
  • Recognizing the warning signs
  • Protection during a fall/demos
  • Fall recovery
  • Tai Chi for balance
