Spartans Sweep Into State Volleyball Final

Defending champion Seabury Hall swept its way into a return trip to the state Division-II boy’s volleyball final.

The second-seeded Spartans will face top-seeded Hawaii Baptist in today’s 5 o’clock championship match at McKinley High.

Seabury advanced with an overpowering 25-14, 25-19, 25-19 semifinal victory over second-seeded and previously unbeaten Castle.

Rocky DeLyon had 11 kills and two blocks, Conner Snow eight kills and three blocks, and Alex Wright seven kills and one service ace.

Earlier, both of the MIL’s entries were bounced out of the D-I tourney being hosted by Hilo with consolation bracket losses.

Third-ranked Waikakea beat King Kekaulike 25-13, 25-17. Fourth-seeded Pearl City defeated Baldwin 25-21, 25-19.

Top-seeded Punahou and Kamehameha-Kapalama will tangle for the D-I crown in an all-ILH affair set for a 5 o’clock match at Kea’au High. Punahou will be bidding for a threepeat.
