Crews from the County of Maui restored water to an estimated eight condominiums and 100 homes in South Maui today.  The water outage was caused by a broken six-inch water main along South Kihei Road last night.

Crews were called to the scene at around 9 p.m. Saturday, June 4, 2011.  Water service was shut down on South Kihei Road between Namauu Place and East Waipuilani Road while repairs were conducted.

The break occurred right next to a 12-inch water main, forcing the shut down the larger main in order to fix the smaller, six-inch main last night and this morning.

Water service was restored just before noon today (Sunday, June 5, 2011).

In a separate incident yesterday, Napili customers experienced little or no water pressure because of a power outage at the Napili Wells.  Service was expected to return to normal today.
