Royal Order Honors Kamehameha in Kahului Procession

The Royal Order of Kamehameha on Maui, hosts a procession down Ka’ahumanu Avenue on Saturday, June 11, 2011, in honor of Kamehameha I on his birthday.
The procession begins at 9 a.m. at the UH Maui College (front entrance) parking lot and continues East down Ka’ahumanu Avenue, ending at Ho’aloha Park in Kahului.
The event is hosted by the Royal Order of Kamehameha I, Moku ‘O Maui, Heiau ‘O Kahekili Helu Eha chapter.
There will be a slight disruption in traffic for motorists traveling along Ka’ahumanu Avenue during the procession. Maui Police personnel will be on hand at intersections and entrances to businesses along the route to ensure the safety of walkers and motorists.
On another note, The Royal Oder of Kamehameha I on Maui hosts their annual Royal Ball on June, 18, 2011 at the Grand Wailea. Proceeds from the event go towards the group’s scholarship fund.
