For Fourth of July Fun

Whether you are spending the day barbecuing with friends, hanging at the beach, and are guarding your spot to view the pyrotechnics, here are a few more options for this day of independence.

Front Street in Lahaina will be crowded with lookie-loos as a free concert on the Lahaina library lawn will start at 5:00 p.m. Maui musicians and bands will play through till the fireworks begin at 8:00 p.m.

This will be the 12^th Annual, 4^th of July, fireworks display and food fair. Front Street will be closed from 4:00 p.m., so attendees are advised to go early. The Maui Chamber of Commerce coordinated this event, sponsored by Maui businesses and private donors.

If the press of bodies on Front Street isn’t your particular brand of fun, then what about viewing the glittery night sky from a catamaran? The Pacific Whale Foundation is cruising for fireworks and departing Ma’alaea Harbor at: 6:00 p.m., 6:30 p.m., 6:45 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. The 6:30 p.m. cruise is alcohol free. All other cruise times will serve brews from the Maui Brewing Co., wine, Mai Tai’s and various sodas and juices. Each guest is limited to three alcoholic beverages. Valid identification required.

Departures from Lahaina Harbor are scheduled for 7:00 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. Appetizers include but are not limited to: pork sliders, hot dogs, pasta salad and grilled vegetables. Desserts include: fresh fruit, chocolate mac-nut brownies, and berry tarts.

Tickets are $69.95 for adults and $49.95 for children aged 12 and younger. Kama’aina should bring their Hawai’i identification to receive 20 percent off their ticket prices. Call 808-249-8811 ext. 1, for more information.

Wailea will also have it’s fair share of glowing skies at 8:00 p.m., fronting the Grand Wailea and Four Seasons Resorts. Polo Beach may be a nice getaway to view the red, white and blue sparks. Bring the lawn chairs, beach blankets and set up camp with coolers, snacks and friends. Party responsibly!
