Crews from the County of Maui removed nine light poles from Wells Park in Wailuku after two poles at the site came crashing down last week.

The poles, removed from the tennis and basketball court areas, were in the same rusted condition as the poles that fell on Friday, July 8, 2011.

Crews from the County Parks and Recreation department have since reopened the upper tennis and basketball courts for daytime use.  Park officials say the lower tennis court lights are newer and do not have to be replaced.

There is no word yet on how long it will take to replace the light poles or how much it will cost.
