Eat Me: Scoreboards in Kihei
By Kristin Hashimoto
Most things have a place and utilization. Scoreboards Sports Bar and Grill in Kihei, definitely has a use. Scoreboard scores high for usability on a game night, or live music event. This venue has multiple large flat screen televisions, tall ceilings, expansive space, stage area for live music, and more than adequate seating on the floor and at the bar.
Unfortunately, an order of their Reuben sandwich and fries, chicken wrap with fries, and stuffed potato skins, were rather forgettable. The food was mediocre. The fries weren’t crisp, and the Reuben was barely warm when it arrived, and tasted of disappointment. The slices of corned beef was more dry than moist, the toasted bread was too thin to hold the mustard and slices of corned beef, ending up in a pile of bread and beef atop stale fries.
The chicken Caesar wrap was good and basic. Think Caesar salad, sans croutons, wrapped inside of a tortilla. Finally, the stuffed potato skins were anemic. They weren’t stuffed. There was some cheese, a bit of sour cream, and there may have been some bits of bacon.
The table service was unobtrusive yet appropriately attentive. On a lazy afternoon, the large space will most likely be nearly empty of other patrons. Expect to pay approximately $10 to $15 for their average American lunch offerings. Pupus are half off from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., during their happy hour.
Maybe this restaurant was having an off day. Maybe the menu items ordered were not their specialties. So, try out game-night, happy hour, or a live music night. Have some beers, keep expectations realistic, and maybe you’ll be pleased. Reservations not required. Call Scoreboards at 808-879-2337, for more information.
