UPDATE: Rockslide at Honokohau Valley Cleared

Maui police reopened the Honoapiilani Highway at Honokohau Valley at around 11:55 a.m.  The road was closed since 9:15 a.m. because of a rockslide near mile post 36.  The rockslide has since been cleared and the road was reopened shortly before noon today.

A rockslide in the Honokohau Valley area of West Maui forced the closure of the Honoapiilani Highway this morning near mile marker 36.  The road at the location was closed at 9:15 a.m.  Honokohau Valley is located in the remote area between Kapalua and Nakalele Point.  There is no estimated time on when the section of road will be reopened.
