Calling All Recreational Tennis Coaches, Free Training Workshop

The Maui District Tennis Association (MDTA) is sponsoring a Recreational Coaches Workshop on Saturday, August 20th at the Makena Tennis Club from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

This free workshop is geared toward parent volunteers, PE Teachers, After School Providers, and other aspiring tennis instructors working with kids’ ages 6+. No formal training required to attend. This workshop is intended to teach participants the basics of instructing children in the game of tennis and especially, how to teach your children where no tennis court is required.

Lee Couillard, USTA National Trainer and Director of Tennis at Punahou School, and Sheila Kurosu, Director of Schools Tennis with the United States Tennis Association’s Hawaii/Pacific Section on Oahu will be flying over for the day to conduct the workshop.

For insurance purposes, no children are allowed on the courts to participate in this event. This is strictly an adult event. Instructional materials will also be provided at no charge. Gatorade and waters will be provided to attendees.

Registration starts at 8:30 a.m. on the lanai of the Makena Tennis Clubhouse. Lunch is provided.

No advance registration necessary. Simply show up and learn how to better instruct your children in learning the game of tennis.
