Na Kupuna O Maui hosts a series of educational workshops on foreclosures in West Maui this week.  The workshops will take place on Tuesday and Wednesday, July 26 and 27, 2011 beginning at 6 p.m. on both days at the Lahaina Civic Center.

Guest speakers include Kale Gumapac, President, of Laulima Title Search & Claims, LLC. (LTSC), Momilani Glushenko, Vice President of Operations of LTSC, and Dr. Keanu Sai, a political scientist specializing in international relations and public law.

Gumapac, drew attention to escrow and title discrepancies by intentionally refusing to make his mortgage payments.  The case was later dismissed on July 1, 2011, because of a dispute in title.

“By setting precedence in court and using the argument of a defect in title, my goal is to help those who are experiencing the same devastation of a foreclosure,” said Gumapac.

The workshops are free, open to the general public, and sponsored by the non-profit group, Na Kupuna O Maui.
