Long-time Hawaii clothing designer Tori Richard has been selected as the manufacturer of volunteer uniforms for the APEC 2011 Leaders’ Week in November.

“The Hawaii Host Committee is pleased to be working with Tori Richard, who for more than 50 years has been producing garments of the highest quality that also embody the aloha spirit and unique island lifestyle of Hawaii,” said Peter Ho, Hawaii Host Committee Chair, in a written statement yesterday. “APEC 2011 provides an unprecedented opportunity for our state to showcase its hospitality. As we expect our volunteers to be a prominent presence throughout Leaders’ Week, Tori Richard’s unique approach to designing clothing seemed a natural fit for this selection.”

The volunteer uniform print from Tori Richard integrates the APEC logo graphic and the national flowers of each of the 21 APEC economies, with an authentic Hawaiian Kapa motif in the traditional Aloha Shirt gridded pattern.
