Maui Fair Asks Families to Take a LEAP for Health

Today is the deadline to submit entries into the Maui Fair’s Take a Leap contest for healthy living.

Families are asked to describe what it means to them to “Take the LEAP” of living healthy, eating well, being active and living pono.

Entries can written in 100 words or less, or submitted in the form of a drawing, painting, or photo with caption.

Entries should be no larger than 8.5 by 11 inches. The winner gets a grand prize award of a trip to Las Vegas.  All entries will receive a special Take the Leap gift and will be showcased at the Maui Fair.

Take the Leap Hawaii is a campaign to raise awareness to reduce obesity and obesity related diseases and strengthen communities to support positive, sustainable and improved health.

The program is part of a federal grant known as CPPW – Communities Putting Prevention to Work through the Hawaii Department of Health.

Entries can be mailed to: KPOA Take the Leap, 311 Ano Street, Kahului, HI 9672.

Submissions will not be returned.

The 89th Maui Fair will open with the traditional parade on Thursday, September 29th, and will continue with rides, food, and entertainment through Sunday, October 2.
