Hanakaoo Brush Fire Slows Tuesday Afternoon Traffic

A fire mauka of Hanakaoo Beach Park burned an estimated 1.5 acres on Tuesday afternoon, October 4, 2011.

The brush fire also forced the closure of a single north-bound lane on the Honoapiilani Highway for about two hours.

Firefighters responded to the first alarm at 4:33 p.m., had the fire under control at 5:15 , and extinguished by 8:18 p.m.

Among the units dispatched to the scene were Engine 3, Tanker 3, Ladder 3, Engine 11, Mini 11, and Battalion Chief 6.

No structures were threatened, and no injuries were reported.  The cause of the fire is undetermined at this time.
