More than 10,000 popular and hard-to-find books will be on sale this week on Maui.

The books are from the collection of the recently closed Old Lahaina Book Emporium.

The giant book sale is hosted by the Maui Friends of the Library during a three-day event, October 14-16 at the Old Kahului Shopping Center (next to Ah Fook’s Grocery on Ka’ahumanu Avenue).

The sale runs from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on all three days.

Proceeds from the book sales will be donated to the Maui Friends of the Library, an all-volunteer non-profit organization.  Most prices are $5 or less, and will be used by the organization to assist public libraries in Maui County.

The sale runs weekends, including Fridays, through October.

For members of the Maui Friends of the Library, there will be a pre-sale event on Thursday, October 13 beginning at 2 p.m. (at the Old Kahului Shopping Center).

Organizers say that helping libraries is more important than ever because of the recent closure of Borders and the Old Lahaina Book Emporium.
