UPDATE: Lower Honoapiilani OPEN After Accident

The Lower Honoapiilani Road is now open following a motor vehicle accident. The accident forced the temporary closure of the roadway for about an hour between Hui O Pohaku Park and Akahele.

Maui Police closed a portion of the Lower Honoapiilani Road at 4:08 p.m. because of a motor vehicle accident reported Tuesday afternoon.

The closure extends from Hui O Pohaku Park (also known as S-Turns) to Akahele.
Crews from the Maui Police Department are on scene.
Local traffic is being allowed access through the affected area.
