Degree Preparation Workshops Offered for UHMC
By Wendy Osher
The University of Hawai`i Center will host a Degree Preparation Workshop this week for individuals thinking about going back to school or for those that want to continue their education.
The workshop will begin at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, November 15, 2011 in Laulima, room 107 at the UH Maui College campus in Kahului.
The University of Hawai`i Center offers bachelor’s and master’s degrees via distance learning, giving students the opportunity to stay on island.
The workshop will provide an overview of distance learning programs, with an informal face-to-face question and answer session to follow.
Some of the UH distance programs currently offered include bachelor’s degrees in Business Administration, Accounting, Nursing, Early Childhood Education, Psychology, and Health Care; as well as an MA in Indigenous Language and Culture Education, and a certificate in Disaster Preparedness and Emergency Management.
For more information, contact the University of Hawaii Center at 984-3525, or email [email protected].
The University of Hawaii Center, Maui was established in 1996 by the UH Board of Regents. The program provides select bachelor’s and master’s degrees from UH Manoa, UH West Oahu, and UH Hilo.
Nearly 1,000 Maui residents have already taken advantage of these programs and earned their degrees while continuing to live in Maui County.
Many of the programs cater to Maui’s business professionals and students raising families.
