Wainee Street Home Fire Causes $2,000 Damage

A structure fire on Wainee Street in Lahaina yesterday caused an estimated $2,000 in damage to a bedroom of a two story home.

The fire was first reported at 6:57 p.m., and was fully extinguished by 7:20 p.m. Units responding to the scene included: Engine-3, Ladder-3, Engine-11, and Battalion Chief-4.

The blaze was contained to a bedroom, where occupants were evacuated, but not injured.

Authorities say the homeowner used a fire extinguisher on a burning mattress before firefighters arrived on the scene.

The cause of the fire is undetermined.
