Medicare’s Open Enrollment Deadline is Today
By Wendy Osher
Today is the deadline for people with Medicare to change or choose their coverage for drug and health plans for next year.
In Hawaii, there are more than 200,000 seniors receiving Medicare benefits.
Patients who are satisfied with their current coverage don’t need to do a thing; but those interested in making changes to their plan, should do so by 10 p.m. HST, Wednesday, December 7th, 2011.
“It is a strong island tradition to take good care for our kupuna, which is why we need to spread the word about this important deadline,” said Congresswoman Mazie K. Hirono of Hawaii.
“Thanks to the Affordable Care Act, Medicare now provides our seniors with better choices, greater benefits such as annual wellness exams, and lower costs,” said Hirono.
Professional service is available to assist beneficiaries, their families, partners, and trusted representatives.
For complete details on the Annual Enrollment Period, patients can call 1-800-MEDICARE (1-800-633-4227). Additional information is also available online at www.medicare.gov.
Patients should have their Medicare number ready and can expect possible lengthy wait times.
