Hawaiian Airlines has appointed Stephen Simmons to the new position of managing director of operations planning and scheduling.

Simmons’ position was created to provide additional management support to Hawaiian’s flight operations as the company continues to implement its strategic growth plan. “Hawaiian’s route network will continue to grow significantly in the coming years and Stephen’s expertise at managing the utilization of flight crews will be tremendously useful in keeping our operations efficient and customer-focused,” said Charles Nardello, Hawaiian’s senior vice president of operations, in a written statement.

Simmons brings more than 30 years of airline management experience to Hawaiian. Most recently he worked for two years as an independent aviation consultant for several domestic and international carriers.

Before that Simmons worked at Northwest Airlines for 16 years in director and managing director positions, primarily in the area of crew operations and staffing. He also accrued 12 years of experience at Pan American World Airways serving in manager and director level positions for in-flight services and labor relations.
