Kihei Charter School Launches New Website

Maui’s Kihei Charter School launched a new website this week in preparation for the upcoming spring enrollment period.

The state of the art website not only provides general information about the state’s only STEM-focused school, but also encourages the community to learn more about its educational initiatives.

The homepage features a word cloud where online visitors can click words to gain more information on areas of focus within the school.

“By featuring some of the key words that we feel best describe our innovative learning environment, we hope to inspire Maui families to join our ‘ohana. As a high performing public charter school, our doors are open to any and all students on Maui from kindergarten through high school graduation,” said Gail Weaver, director of Kihei Charter School (KCS).

Hawaii charter schools are publicly funded schools and are available to students of all ages and abilities.  Over the past 10 years, Hawaii businesses have provided both in-kind and financial support for the thousands of students who have passed through the unconventional halls of KCS.

Gene Zarro, CEO of the South Maui Learning ‘Ohana, the non-profit which works to support Kihei Charter School, spoke about the importance of community and business involvement in education saying, “Kihei Charter relies heavily on private sector support from businesses across the state and nation to ensure we continue pushing the envelope of public education. As we say around here, we have an ‘innovation addiction’ which we must continue to chase. Pursuing the cutting edge at every corner requires resources and support.”
