Committee Chair Gladys C. Baisa said, “Before we deliberate on maps and growth boundaries, we need to have this information-only meeting to allow Council members and the public to get oriented on the proposed Directed Growth Plan.”

The upcoming meeting will include a presentation from the Department of Planning on Chapter 8 of the Maui Island Plan, entitled: Directed Growth Plan.  Chapter 8 of the Maui Island Plan includes maps that would establish the first urban and rural growth boundaries on Maui.

Future meetings will be scheduled to allow the Committee to review maps and vote on growth boundaries, with each of those meetings likely focused on a single community plan area, according to Baisa.
