Power has been restored to customers in the Haiku area as of 3:58 p.m.

Officials from Maui Electric Company apologized for the inconvenience and thanked customers for their patience and understanding as crews worked to restore electrical service.

The outage was first reported at 2:50 p.m.

Parts of Haiku on Maui are experiencing a power outage. The incident was reported at 2:50 p.m. on Sunday, February 26, 2012.

Officials with Maui Electric Company say the outage is affecting areas of Haiku bounded by Haiku Road, Maliko Gulch, Haiku Hills Subdivision, Pauwela Road, Hana Highway, Kalanikahua Road, and lateral streets.

Crews from MECO are working to identify the cause and restore electrical service as quickly and safely as possible.
