6.3 Mexico Quake, No Hawaii Threat

A 6.3 magnitude earthquake was reported in Oaxaca, Mexico at 7:36 a.m. on Monday, April 2, 2012.

The quake was centered 17 miles SSE of Ometepec, Mexico, and 111 miles ESE of Acapulco, Mexico, according to the USGS.

The depth of the quake was 7.6 miles.

The quake was also 21 miles from Pinotepa Nacional, Oaxaca, Mexico; 68 miles SW from Tlaxiaco, Oaxaca, Mexico; and 109 miles SE from Chilpancingo, Guerrero, Mexico.

There are no active warnings, watches, or advisories in effect for Hawaii.
