Maui fire fighters responded to a car fire reported yesterday afternoon on the Mokulele Highway.

Authorities say the vehicle lost control and ended up in a ditch where it got so hot that it caught fire, burning a 10 by 50 foot area of brush.

The incident was reported at 4:49 p.m. along the Mokulele Highway near the Pi’ilani Highway intersection.

The vehicle was described as a white BMW.
