The Maui County Department of Environmental Management will begin work on a second sewer line replacement project in West Maui this month.  The first sewer line replacement ended late May.

The new project is located at the intersection of Front and Prison streets in Lahaina, with construction slated to start on Tuesday, June 12, 2012.

Due to heavy traffic, crews will work at night between June 12 and 18, keeping the area open to motorists during the day. Night time work starts at 7 p.m. and ends at 6 a.m.

Day work will begin on a portion of Prison Street from Front to Luakini streets between June 19 and 29.  During the daytime work, the portion of Prison Street will be closed between 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.

County officials say area residents have already been notified about noise from night time construction.

Motorists are asked to plan their travel accordingly and take detours around the affected areas if possible.
