Hiker Safe After Search Launched in Olinda

A hiker is safe after a search party was launched on Saturday afternoon in Olinda.

The Maui Fire Department’s Engine 5, Air 1, and Rescue 10 were dispatched to respond the the scene at 4:11 p.m.

When crews arrived on scene they were advised that the hiker had found her way back onto the Waihou trail head on Olinda Road and would be at the location shortly.

The woman appeared walking up the trail about three minutes later.

Authorities say the woman, who was a local resident, reported being disoriented for a short period of time, but found her way back on track.

She did not require any medical attention, according to officials.
