Fire at Maui Job Corps Causes $1000 Damage

Maui firefighters responded to a report of a structure fire at 7:22 p.m. on Friday at the Maui Job Corps facility in Makawao.

When engine units arrived on scene at 7:33 p.m., crews found the business building on campus filled with smoke, officials said.

Maui Fire Services Chief Lee Mainaga said when units arrived, occupants of the building had already doused the small fire with fire extinguishers.

The fire caused an estimated $1000 in damage, and the cause was undetermined.

No injuries were reported.
