Maui firefighters assisted a visitor yesterday who fell about 20 feet from a partially blocked trail near Pua’a Ka’a State Park in East Maui.
The incident was reported just before 2 p.m. on Thursday, October 18, 2012.
Authorities say the 53-year-old man from Utah landed next to a pond where he suffered non-life-threatening injuries to his arms and left ankle.
Hana firefighters on scene, swam across the pond, stabilized the victim onto a backboard, and floated him about 50-feet across the pond, said Maui Fire Services Chief Lee Mainaga.
