A Maui inmate who had escaped from work detail in Lahaina on Friday morning is back in custody.

Police located Henry “Hana” Rosenthal, 31, and took him back into custody without incident at around 10:38 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 10.

Police say they received an anonymous tip at around 10:17 p.m., indicating that Rosenthal was on the upstairs balcony of a home on Kale Street in Lahaina.

Lahaina Police responded to the residence, and subsequently located Rosenthal in the upstairs bathroom.

Rosenthal went missing on Friday when was assigned to assist with repairs at the Lahaina Civic Center for work detail. Upon conducting checks at the site at around 10:30 a.m., a guard noticed Rosenthal was not at his posted location.

An escape report was immediately made and information was later distributed to media outlets later the same afternoon.
