US Senator Daniel Inouye is under observation as doctors regulate his oxygen intake.

The orders came after the 88-year-old senator reportedly fainted at his office on Thursday.

Governor Neil Abercrombie issued a message of aloha on Monday afternoon, wishing the senator a speedy recovery.

Inouye is the most senior Senate Democrat, and is the third in line for presidential succession.

Officials say he is “alert, feisty, and ready to get back to work as soon as possible.”
