A visitor was airlifted from the Keanae Arboretum after sustaining injuries in a fall on a hiking trail on Tuesday afternoon.
Fire officials say the woman was about a mile into the trail when she slipped and injured her left leg and ankle in the fall. The incident was reported at 12:12 p.m.
Crews from the Maui Fire Department’s Air-1 helicopter and Rescue-10 personnel spotted the woman and airlifted her to a landing zone secured by crews from Engine-7 at the Keanae YMCA.
The woman, identified as a visitor from Canada in her 50s, was then transported by ambulance to the Maui Memorial Medical Center for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.
