Strong trade winds will bring rough and elevated surf to the east facing shores of Maui and Molokai through 6 a.m. on Friday, Feb. 22.

Forecasters from the National Weather Service say surf is expected to be in the 6 to 8 foot range with occasional higher sets.

As a result of the advisory, officials advise beach goers to stay out of the alter along affected shores, and well away from the shore break due to hazardous wave action and strong rip currents.
