“It’s been an incredible transition,” said US Senator Brian Schatz after his first eight weeks at the US Capitol.

Schatz was on Maui today for several events that included the official dedication of the Auwahi Wind Farm at Ulupalakua.

Schatz, who was selected as the chair of the Subcommittee on Water and Power, called the Auwahi Wind project “critically important” to helping Hawaii reach its goals for clean energy. “This is about keeping Maui Maui and setting an example not just for the state but the rest of the nation.”

He sat down for a one-on-one interview with Maui Now to discuss his priorities for the state, his thoughts on Maui projects, and provide updated information to neighbor island constituents.
