Buy Groceries, Get Cheaper Gas: Rewards Program Launched
By Wendy Osher
Safeway and Chevron are teaming up for a loyalty rewards program that offers customers up to 20 cents off per gallon of gas.
The discount is available to customers who earn “Gas Rewards” by shopping with their Safeway Club Card, and redeeming the points when they fill up gas at participating Chevron stations in Hawai’i.
“By teaming up with Chevron, we’re able to thank our customers with an innovative rewards program for these two frequent and critical purchases,” said Mir Aamir, president of Customer Loyalty and Digital Technologies at Safeway in a press release today.
Rewards Points are earned by purchasing qualifying groceries with a Safeway Club Card. Customers then redeem their points by swiping their Safeway Club Card at the pump, or by entering their phone number before fueling.
“For every 100 points earned by shopping at Safeway with a Safeway Club Card shoppers get a 10 cent per gallon Reward. Customers can use up to 20 cents per gallon in Rewards on a single fill-up transaction, with a maximum of 25 gallons, and a limit of one vehicle per transaction,” according to company officials.
There are a total of 20 Safeway stores in Hawai’i and more than 55 Chevron stations participating in the partnership.
