The Department of Planning’s Zoning Administration and Enforcement Division and the director’s administrative staff will be relocating from the Kalana Pakui building to One Main Plaza during the month of June, according to an announcement by the County of Maui today.
The move will begin on June 12 and continue through June 21.
“We look forward to having all of our staff together in one building after all these years,” said Will Spence, the planning director, in a written statement released today by the department.
“It will improve our managerial efficiency and allow greater collaboration and mentoring among all of our divisions. The move is long overdue, and we appreciate the public’s understanding and patience while we are ‘offline’ for several days during the relocation of our offices.”
The offices will join two of the department’s divisions already located at One Main Plaza: Long Range Planning and Current Planning. The Long Range Planning Division is in the process of moving from its offices at One Main Plaza to suite 601; the move is expected to be completed by June 7.
The department expects that the Current Planning Division will remain in its offices in suite 619.
From today through June 7, calls to the Long Range Division can be made to the department’s main number at 270-7735. Walk-in inquiries may be directed to the Current Division in suite 619.
From June 12 – 21, calls and walk-in inquiries to the director’s administrative staff and the Zoning Administration and Enforcement Division can be made to the Current Division at 270-8205 or in suite 619.
After the move is complete, the following will be the new official addresses for the department at One Main Plaza, 2200 Main Street, Wailuku (the phone numbers will not change):
Planning Department/Director: 270-7735, Suite 315
Zoning Administration and Enforcement Division: 270-7253, Suite 335
Current Division: 270-8205, Suite 619
Long Range Division: 270-7214, Suite 601
The department’s boards and commissions, such as the Maui Planning Commission, will continue to meet in the Planning Conference Room on the ground floor of Kalana Pakui.
Public parking for walk-in inquiries and appointments will continue to be provided at the Kalana O Maui building; parking will also be available in the paid parking garage at One Main Plaza.
The vacated Kalana Pakui offices are expected to be utilized by the Department of Management and the Department of Finance.
For more information on the moves, contact the Planning Department at 270-7735, or the Current Division at 270-8205 between June 12 – 21.
