Kahului Brush Fire Burns 1/4 Acre Near Church

An afternoon fire in Kahului burned a quarter-acre of brush on a property located adjacent to the Grace Bible Church, officials said.

The incident was reported at 2:41 p.m. on Thursday, June 6, 2013, at the intersection of Hina and West Hawaiʻi Streets.

Crews from The Kahului Fire Station responded to the are which was described dry and consisting of grass, brush and green waste, officials said.

The fire was brought under control at 3 p.m., and extinguished at 3:42 p.m., said Maui Fire Services Chief Lee Mainaga.

The cause of the fire was undetermined and no damages were reported, he said.
