Eligibility Guidelines for Free and Reduced-Price School Meals

The Hawaiʻi Department of Education announced eligibility guidelines for families applying for free and reduced-priced meals for children at public schools in the state.

Children from households with income at or below the following levels (see grid below) are eligible for free or reduced-price meals under the National School Lunch and School Breakfast Programs, according to the DOE:

The DOE released information today saying application forms are being accepted beginning on July 1, 2013 for the current 2013-2014 school year.

Applications are being sent out in the mail, but are also available online at ezmealapp.com.  DOE officials say applications may be submitted at any time during the year.
