Four Maui men earned titles at the recent Just For Men National Beard and Moustache Championships held over the weekend in New Orleans.
The Maui men joined a list of more than 150 competitors from across the country to compete in 18 different categories.
Winners from Maui included:
- Ross Steidel of Lahaina, Maui: Silver medalist in the Hungarian Moustache division. This is his second consecutive win after taking the gold medal last year in Las Vegas, NV.
- Nick Wilson of Makawao, Maui: Silver medalist in the Musketeer Partial Beard division.
- Josh Aguinaldo of Waiehu, Maui: Silver medalist in the Full Beard Styled Moustache division.
- Brooke Mahnken of Haʻikū, Maui: Second place medalist in the Freestyle Moustache category.
The fourth annual competition was organized by Beard Team USA and was held on Saturday, Sept. 7, at the House of Blues in the French Quarter.
According to the competition website, judges were asked to determine which contestant’s facial hair best enhanced his overall appearance, style, and personality.
In the freestyle categories the judges were asked to consider originality as well as creativity.
