Contractors will open a portion of road today that runs through the Maui Business Park under construction in Kahului.
Hoʻokele Street and Pūlehu Road will be open to motorists beginning at 10 a.m. on Thursday, Sept. 26, 2013, a representative for Goodfellow Bros. said.
The Hoʻokele opening extends from Walmart to the Hāna Highway.
A public notice indicates that only a right turn into the intersection of Hoʻokele Street and Hāna Highway is being allowed at this time.
The construction is part of the business parks’ second phase of construction.
Goodfellow Bros. say the intersection of Hoʻokele and Pūlehu is open, but does not have a traffic signal just yet—that is scheduled for completion in December.
Motorists are asked to proceed with caution and obey the posted 35-mile-per-hour speed limit in the area.
The Maui Business Park is being developed by Alexander & Baldwin, LLC. A&B is offering 65 fee simple lots for sale within the Maui Business Park, including 29 lots in the North Project and 36 lots in the South Project.
The company’s website notes that the lots (approximately 1/2 acre and larger) are zoned light industrial, allowing for warehousing, distribution, light manufacturing as well as retail and office uses.
