Officials from the Hawaiʻi Tourism Authority say flights out of Hawaiʻi to Los Angeles International Airport are departing as scheduled, despite the incident that took place earlier this morning.

“However, we encourage all visitors traveling through Los Angeles, to verify their flight schedules with their airlines and arrive early due to enhanced security at the airports,” said HTA officials in a statement this morning.

Hawaiian Airlines, which operates routes into LAX issued a comment on the company’s Twitter account saying, “Our thoughts are with those affected by events at LAX.”  To check flight status, Hawaiian Airline customers can visit the following Direct Link.

According to initial reports out of ABC NEWS, at least three people were shot in the incident at Los Angeles International Airport, which was reported at around 9:30 a.m. LA time (6:30 HST) on Nov. 1, 2013, at Terminal 3.  Authorities said three people were being treated at an area hospital.

Later reports indicated that the suspect was in custody after a police-involved shooting within the terminal.  Various media agencies are also reporting that there was one person killed during today’s events.
