A flood advisory has been issued for the island of Maui until 7:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 22, 2014.
Forecasters with the National Weather Service say that at around 6:15 a.m., radar showed heavy rain near Nuʻu in East Maui—that’s about 21 miles southeast of Kahului.
Other locations in the advisory include but are not limited to Hāna and Hāmoa.
Motorists and pedestrians are reminded not to cross fast flowing or rising water in their vehicle or on foot. The NWS also advises the public to stay away from streams, drainage ditches and low lying areas that are prone to flooding.
