The recognition is for Victorino’s “career of baseball excellence and for the contributions of the Shane Victorino Foundation.”

The St. Anthony High School graduate is a two time major league all-star, two time world-series champion, four time golden glove recipient, a Lou Gehrig Memorial Award recipient, and a Branch Rickey Award recipient, according to the House announcement.

He along with his wife started the Shane Victorino Foundation which lawmakers say “has worked selflessly to support under-served youth” in communities across the country.

In November 2013, Victorino was honored by the Maui County Council with a ceremonial resolution. The recognition came upon conclusion of the 2013 Major League Baseball World Series in which the Boston Red Sox took the title, earning the Mauian his second World Series ring.

During the final game, Victorino hit a three-run double in the 3rd inning, putting the first runs on the board for the Boston Red Sox in their 6-1 World Series Win over the St. Louis Cardinals.
