18-24 Foot Surf Expected Along North Shore

The National Weather Service extended a high surf advisory for the north and west facing shores of MolokaŹ»i and the north facing shores of Maui until 6 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 5, 2014.

Forecasters with the NWS say surf heights are expected to be in the 18 to 24-foot range along the north facing shores, and 12 to 18 feet along affected west facing shores.

The advisory level surf is expected to produce rip currents, localized beach erosion, and make swimming difficult and dangerous.

Forecasters say surf will rise to advisory conditions on Tuesday night into Wednesday.

The agency advises beach goers to exercise caution and heed the advice of ocean safety officials.
