2-Year-Old Boy Pulled from Kīhei Pool, Flown to Oʻahu

A two-year-old boy was flown to Oʻahu for treatment after being pulled from the Kīhei Aquatic Center on Sunday afternoon.
Kīhei patrol officers were called to the scene regarding a report of a possible drowning at 2:56 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 16, 2014.
According to police reports, the boy was discovered at the bottom of the pool by his aunt.
Police say the boy was pulled out and cardiopulmonary resuscitation was administered by a lifeguard on-duty.

The child was transported to the Maui Memorial Medical Center in critical condition, and then flown to Oʻahu for further care, according to Maui Police Lt. William Juan.

The incident has been classified as a miscellaneous accident.
