The Maui Police Department announced a schedule of upcoming Town Hall Meetings in rural locations within Maui County.

The list of meetings and times includes the following:

  • Wednesday, April 9, 2014, 6 p.m. at Helene Hall in Hāna;
  • Wednesday, April 30, 2014, 6 p.m. at the Lānaʻi Senior Center on Lānaʻi; and
  • Thursday, May 22, 2014, at 6 p.m. at the Mitchell Pauʻole Center on Molokaʻi.

Department officials say these are annual meetings designed to address specific concerns within respective communities.

MPD Chief Gary Yabuta initiated the Town Hall series to bring the police department closer to the communities it serves.

Residents of each district are encouraged to come meet the chief, along with members of his command staff, and commanders and officers serving each district.

Attendees are asked to bring questions and concerns, and learn about new programs being initiated in the communities in which they live.
