Hawaiian Airlines today announced it has accelerated the start date for its new daily year-round service between Los Angeles and Maui to May 2, 2014.

The start of service is one month earlier than originally planned, and is being attributed to “robust demand.”

In addition to the early start, the airline also announced the addition of a second daily flight for the summer months between June 30 and Sept. 3, 2014.

The year-round service and additional flight for the summer will add more than 175,000 seats to both travel markets this year, they say.

The flights will feature wide-body Airbus 330-200 aircraft that can carry 294 passengers with daily flights departing from Kahului at 3:40 p.m. and arriving in Los Angeles at 11:55 p.m. The return flights will depart LAX at 11:15 a.m., and arrive in Kahului at 1:40 p.m.

The second summer flights will depart Kahului at 9:40 p.m., arriving in LA at 5:55 a.m.; with the return flights leaving LAX at 1:30 p.m., and landing in Kahului at 4:05 p.m.

“In response to robust demand, Hawaiian Airlines is pleased to advance the start date and increase summer frequency for our new daily Los Angeles-Maui service, giving travelers more options and flexibility to visit the beautiful island of Maui,” said Peter Ingram, Hawaiian Airlines executive vice president and chief commercial officer in a press release.

In addition to the Maui service, Hawaiian Airlines launches non-stop summer service in June between LA and Līhu’e, Kaua’i and LA and Kona on Hawai’i Island. The airline say this means all four main Hawaiian islands will have service to Southern California for the summer.
