Maui Unemployment Unchanged at 5% in February

Maui’s unemployment rate in February remained at 5%, unchanged from the month before, but down 0.2% from the same time last year, according to new information released by the state Department of Labor and Industrial Relations.

The Island of Lānaʻi continued to record the state’s lowest unemployment rate at 3.1%, up slightly from 2.9% the month before; and Molokaʻi continued to have the state’s highest unemployment rate of 9.7%–up from 6.8% in January, but down from the 10.4% rate recorded at the same time last year.

The Department of Labor and Industrial Relations, noted that the seasonally adjusted unemployment rate for the state was 4.6% in February, unchanged from the month before, and down from the 4.9% rate recorded at the same time last year.

According to the new data, there were 626,400 employed and 30,150 unemployed individuals in the state in February, which combines for a total seasonally adjusted labor force of 656,550.
