Maui Man Arrested on Attempted Murder, Meth Trafficking Charges

A man was arrested on Maui for attempted murder and multiple drug charges including methamphetamine trafficking.
Maui police say Erath Kaihewalu, 21, of Wailuku was arrested and charged at 5:26 p.m. on Tuesday, May 27, for an outstanding indictment warrant for the following charges:
- First-degree attempted murder;
- First-degree methamphetamine trafficking – 3 counts;
- Third-degree promotion of a dangerous drug;
- Second-degree promotion of a dangerous drug; and
- Prohibited acts related to drug paraphernalia, 2 counts.
Maui Police Department Sergeant Audra Sellers said Kaihewalu was being held in lieu of $200,000 bail at last report.
Police did not elaborate on the reason for the attempted murder charge, or the circumstances behind the drug allegations.
