A power outage knocked out electricity to nearly 80 customers in Puʻunēnē on Sunday night, June 8, 2014.

The outage was reported shortly before 9:30 p.m. when a car struck a pole near the old Puʻunēnē School building, said Maui Electric Company spokesperson Kauʻi Awai-Dickson.

A total of 78 commercial customers, including Ameron and businesses in the Maui Hardwoods area were affected.

Dickson said power was restored at about 10:30 p.m. to 76 customers with remaining customers being brought back online shortly before 4 a.m. today.
